Calendars serve many uses. They can be used to keep track of important dates within your company. You can have shift calendars made to help make sure your employees show up when you need them. They also make great promotional pieces as many people use them and they therefore tend to “hang around”. Due to their usefulness and frequent use of vibrant images, they are one of those marketing materials that stands a good chance of not winding up in the trash. Below are some things you may want to consider:
-Format & Size: Do you want a desk calendar, a wall calendar, or one that can fit in a pocket? How many months do you want them to display? Desk calendars are commonly 17.5“x22.5″, wall calendars 8.5“x11” or 9“x12”, and pocket calendars either 2“x3.5″ or 4“x3.5″ folded over to 2“x3.5″. Wall calendars can also be set up to show multiple months at once, which brings us to binding methods.
-Binding: Desk calendars are typically padded so that each month can be easily torn off after the month has passed. Wall calendars can be done in a variety of methods. We can saddle stitch them for a really clean look. We can also use mechanical binding methods, like spiral binding, GBC (aka comb) binding, and duo wire (aka wire‑o) binding. Such allow for them to lay flat against the wall. It also allows for multiple months to be displayed at once. See below to get an idea of what we’re talking about.
-Paper: We usually use a text weight non-glossy, uncoated paper for a desk calendar to allow for the user to write important information on them. Usually text weight paper is used for the inside of a wall calendar- either glossy, semi-glossy, or unglossy. If you want the user to be able to write on it, we recommend a non-glossy paper. If you plan on using vibrant images in your design, a glossy or semi-glossy paper will probably better suit your needs. We can put the cover of a wall calendar on the same paper as the inside, or use a heavier, cover weight paper for a more polished look. For a pocket calendar, we typically recommend a cardstock to better endure extended usage.
